The Leeloo Monos as the extention of the Stereo Leeloo linage. The Leeloo was an amp we built several years ago and really loved. Its hard to deny the appeal of 12AX7s and 6BQ5s not to mention 2-3 watts on tap. With the development of the Suolo monos, we had a strong platform to revisit the Leeloo.
The Leeloo is intended for those who want single ended tube sound with a more neutral presentation. The Leeloo employs small amounts of feedback for a more modern signature, with fast transients, dead black backgrounds and remarkable frequency extension.
Where the Stereo Leeloo had a shared power supply and solid state rectification the Leeloo Monos offers a 2 chassis solution, isolating each channel to its own amp. The amps employ a new power transformer with provision for tube rectification from a 6CA4 rectifier.
The power supply is robust and utilized choke regulation. Output are huge and allow for tonal weight and extreme frequency extension.
We opted to use the ubiquitous 12AX7 allowing for the widest range of tube rolling options.
Output tube is every popular 6BQ5/EL-84. The goal of the Leeloo mono is to allow for a wide range of NOS tube rolling; old tubes do it better.
The Leeloo Mono provide hints of warm while giving you details and transient swings that bring you closer to the music. Our huge power supply and output transformers take you from middle theater to the 10throw to the orchestra. The weight and even presentation cannot be under stated. Weight, driver, Warmth, texture, and soundstage depth are ideas that describe the Leeloo mons.
Outputs are ¼” mono jacks for 8ohm, 32ohm and 300ohm as well as binding posts for use as a 2chanel mono block amp.
The build quality of the Leeloo monos is Jewel like, though you will likely never see the effort which went into its production, turret boards predate PCBs and provide the greatest flexibility while providing a rigid mounting point. Turret boards were used in some of the greatest amplifiers made from Mcintosh and HarmonKardon and today ampsandsound made use as well.
Input attenuation/Volume is handled by a 10K mono stepped attenuator for precise channel matching.
The Leeloo Monos are SET Single Ended Triode with minimal feedback. Output is directly coupled to the transformer, no voltage divider network to degrade the sound. The Leeloo Monos have more power than you need. They can drive the most difficult headphones without issue. We chose 8ohm, 32ohms and 300ohm output taps to allow use with the widest variety of headphones; everything from Grado Labs, HiFiMan, Audeze, MrSpeakers, Sennheiser, and Beyerdynamic.
Cathode Bias/automatic bias allows for easy tube changes without adjustment.
